The Pink Dress

Creative title, I know. Actually there was an old novel called The Pink Dress that I read that apparently is OOP and extremely difficult to find, and copies are sold on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. Go figure. Anyhoo, back to the main purpose of this post, I finally finished another sewing project! Slow I am, yes (what, am I speaking like Yoda now?!), but it's done-ish. I'm having fitting issues with the top part, being as flat-chested as I am, the shoulders and chest areas are just a wee bit too large. It's a really weird dress in terms of function; you slip your head through the hole on the top, button the front flaps in the back, then pull the back forward and snap them together. Confusing, I know.

The inspiration was this adorable Modcloth dress (where I get a lot of inspiration) with an added 1950s touch. It would be awesome to buy everything, but for now I guess I will slowly build a Modcloth-lookalike closet, haha. Nowadays, when I go shopping and look at clothes, I think to myself, If I can make this easily then it's not worth buying. Which I think is a good way to shop, because it stops me from buying too many things. Sadly I don't sew fast enough to make a whole wardrobe within days, especially when I'm seeing more things I want to sew than I can possibly finish in a certain amount of time. Oh well, patience pays off, I guess. I still have to get around to my Alexa Chung velvet shorts (it's still on my list!).

And to finish off the post, a lovely rendition of "I Will Follow You" by my new favorite, the adorable Ricky Nelson. His brother David passed away a few weeks ago, RIP.

  4. Shhh don't tell anyone, but I think your pink dress is nicer than the Modcloth dress. I prefer your dress's silhouette more! It's adorable really! Pink is popping up everywhere. Pink is one of my favorite colors, but I don't wear it too often, because I only like a specific shade of pink. You read my The Actor post, so you know!

I'm glad you like my interpretation of The Actor! It makes me happy! :)
